This may be a default function for some and you only need to know how to go about this. Once the timer goes off, give it a few minutes and turn it on again. If it turns to the keep warm mode, give it a few minutes then power it on cooking mode again.
A majority of rice cookers have a non-stick coating. If yours does not have one, you can spray and lather it with some cooking oil before you pour the batter.
Banana Cake
What You’ll Need:
- 250 Grams of flour
- 250 Grams of sugar
- ½ Teaspoon of salt
- 5 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 3 bananas
- 200 grams of melted and cooled butter
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
How to Cook:
- Cool the melted butter till its room temperature.
- Sift all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. This includes the baking powder, flour, salt and baking soda.
- In a separate bowl, mash your bananas finely.
- Whisk the eggs with a hand mixer until creamy and light. Once you have attained this consistency, add your mashed bananas and continue whisking.
- Add the sifted flour mixture and the melted butter.
- Pour the batter into your non-stick rice cooker and press the cook function.
- Once the first cycle is done, stick a toothpick in the center and edges of your cake. If it comes out dry, the cake is ready. If it is still wet, cook for another cycle until it is well done.
- Remove from the rice cooker add some icing sugar(optional). Let your cake cool and serve.
Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of white flour
- 1 ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 cup of sugar
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 5 tablespoons of dark cocoa
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- Vegetable cooking oil(any of your choice)
- 2 cups of water
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
Step by Step:
- Add all the dry ingredients and mix them. Sift into a separate bowl.
- In another bowl, mix all the wet ingredients
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix the batter until it is smooth. Ensure that you don’t overwork the batter.
- Once you are done mixing, pour the batter into your nonstick rice cooker bowl. Grease the rice cooker bowl if you are using a regular rice cooker.
- If your rice cooker has a slow cook function, set the timer for 60 minutes then start it up. If it doesn’t have a slow cooker function you will have to cook it for several cycles that will total 60 minutes.
- Check on your cake after 45 minutes. Use a toothpick to check the center and the edges. If it comes out clean, your cake is ready. If not, cover the lid and let it cook for 15 minutes.
- Once the cake is done, let it cool in the bowl for 15 minutes. Put a flat plate on top of the rice cooker and invert to remove.
- Sprinkle some frosting or powdered sugar on top and serve.
